El Hombre Viejo (The Old Man)

In anticipation of the New Year, mannequins representing the old year, or the old man, as it is typically called, are made of fruits and leaves and old clothing. These ‘men’, which are often posed with libations like Nicaraguan beer or rum, are burned at midnight December 31st. This signifies the end of an old year and the birth of a new.
