Come A’ Caroling in San Juan del Sur

If you’re looking to share some holiday spirit this year, come join a group of holiday carolers in San Juan del Sur as they sing their way through the streets December 24th. Last year the singers, all members of the former School of Nicaraguan Friends and Others, a community English school, practiced for months before making their debut through town. At first timid and nervous, the group gained confidence as the night wore on. By the end of the night, they were shouting their songs as they rode home in the back of a pickup truck.

Songs will be sung in English and Spanish and include such time-honored treasures as Rudolf, the Red-Nosed Reindeer; Joy to the World,;El Burrito de Belen; and Campana Sobre Campana.

Participants this year will meet at the Texaco service station at the entrance of town at 5 p.m. December 24th. The carolers will then proceed through town, singing along the way. They will stop at restaurants, hotels, pubs, and tiendas, imparting good will and best holiday wishes through their songs. The procession will end at the park in front of the church, which will be decorated for the holidays. Here the students will enjoy snacks and refreshments. Nicaragua Living magazine is proud to sponsor this event. For more information please email: editor@nicaragualiving.info
