From the Editor
(NOTE: This letter to the editor has been altered for the online version of Nicaragua Living magazine.)
Dear Readers,
Thank you so much for your support and encouragement for Nicaragua Living magazine. It has really meant a lot to us as we strive to showcase the myriad lifestyles available in Nicaragua.
We’ve been busy since our first issue was published in late August. As you can see, our web site is up and running. We have also agreed to work with a marketing specialist who will use the tricks of the technology trade to increase traffic to our site.
We have published the hard copy of the magazine in both English and Spanish. We will add this feature to our online version with the next issue. We want to expand readership and make sure our advertisers’ messages connect with the people to whom they want to speak.
My husband, Pat, and I recently returned from a three-and-a-half-week, 5,500-mile, ten-state trek through the United States. While there I had the good fortune to interview Denise Varga for our story about her father’s restaurant, Rudy & Paco Restaurant & Bar in Galveston, Texas. Paco Varga was studying to be a lawyer in Managua when he had an opportunity to come to the U.S. with a family friend. Many years later, he hasn’t forgotten his Nicaraguan roots. In fact, his menu is replete with dishes based on Nicaraguan ingredients and home style favorites. Some dishes are even named after areas of Nicaragua.
While on our U.S. trip I also met with a magazine distributor and have subsequently signed an agreement to have Nicaragua Living magazine distributed in the United States, therefore increasing the magazine’s reach.
We’re considering a number of other options to make sure more people know about all the wonderful people, places, recreational activities, natural beauty, history and sights that we enjoy here.
We hope you enjoy this issue of Nicaragua Living magazine!
